RELISHING her return to the court, setter Alohi Robins-Hardy is eager to help the Farm Fresh Foxies reach new heights.
Robins-Hardy, the third pick overall in the PVL Draft, made her official Foxies debut in the ongoing On Tour last Tuesday after being sidelined for almost a year.
“It’s bittersweet. First game out there, finally my work is showing and for our team as well. I’m proud of our girls,” the 6-foot-3 Robins-Hardy said. “We’re really trusting the process. It’s a relief, honestly. It’s been way too long,” she added in her team’s 18-25, 21-25, 26-28 loss to PLDT.
The Filipino-American playmaker has been with the Foxies since October last year but was not permitted to play in the league until she go went the Draft.
During those times, Robins-Hardy was able to help the team as she served as an assistant coach—a role she also had with the University of the Philippines women’s volleyball team.
“It’s awesome. I mean, it’s been a while, obviously. The last time I actually played in a game was back in 2019, 2020 maybe, I think and it feels good. I mean, there was a lot of fans. Obviously not for our game, but it feels good. The fan base is always super supportive, always loud, so it’s nice,” Robins-Hardy said.
Robins-Hardy insisted she wants to win battles and also trusts Foxies coach Alessandro Lodi.
“We want to win, obviously. That’s the big goal. But right now I think we just need to trust the process, as I said before and for me as well, I think trusting the process, trusting the coach and helping translate what coach wants to the team as well because I know sometimes there’s a language barrier,” she said. “So, I think that’s probably going to be the biggest thing for me, is helping translate what coach wants. As well as, you know, pushing my teammates to be better every day, as well as myself.”
