The Monomoy/Mashpee boys hockey pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the MIAA state tournament on Sunday.
The 16th ranked Sharks (13-9-0) knocked off the top seed in Division 4 Stoneham 3-2 in the Round of 16.
Dom Silvester led the defense as he made 52 saves on 54 shots, with 27 shots coming in the third period. The Sharks also recorded 18 blocked shots.
Luke Raftery scored the first goal with assists from Gavin O’Leary and Max Cronen. O’Leary scored the second goal unassisted. Logan Puma scored the winning goal with assists from Nick Garneau and Lee Stockwell.
They will travel on the road to face No. 9 Saint Bernard's at a time and date to be determined.

Boys Hockey
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 3 Falmouth 4, No. 14 Whitman-Hanson 3: The Clippers (17-5-2) will advance to the Elite Eight to host No. 6 Westwood.
Div. 4, Round of 16: No. 9 Saint Bernard’s 4, No. 8 Sandwich 1: The Blue Knights (9-11-2) lost at home to end their season. They beat No. 25 Cohasset 5-1 in the Round of 32.
Girls Hockey
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 10 Scituate 2, No. 7 D-Y/CCA/JPII 0: The Dolphins (13-7-2) were shutout for just the second time this season. They beat No. 26 Norwood 1-0 in the Round of 32.
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 9 Medfield 3, No. 8 Nauset/Monomoy 2 (2OT): The Warriors (13-8-0) lost in double overtime after they trailed 2-0 at the end of the first period. Morgan WIllis and Gaby Bassett scored the goals. They defeated No. 25 Burlington 4-3 in the Round of 32.
Div. 2, Round of 16: No. 1 Westwood 6, No. 17 Martha's Vineyard 0: The Vineyarders (10-11-2) could not pull off a upset in back-to-back games. They beat No. 16 Dedham 3-2 in the Round of 32.
Boys Basketball
Div. 5, Round of 32: No. 2 Hopedale 59, No. 31 Cape Cod Academy 50: The Seahawks (11-12) put a good fight against one of the best teams in Division 5. Mike Berry had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while Cody Tolley added 16 points.
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 13 Norwell 46, No. 20 Falmouth 39: The Clippers (15-7) put a good effort, but came up just short in their second playoff game. Falmouth beat No. 45 Nipmuc Regional 55-24 in the preliminary round.
Girls Basketball
Div. 3, Round of 32: No. 13 Norwell 59, No. 20 Sandwich 29: The Blue Knights (16-5) fell in their opening playoff game despite 14 points from Paige Morrison.
Div. 4, Round of 16: No. 14 West Bridgewater 48, No. 19 Mashpee 44: The Falcons (9-11) came up just short of a upset and extending their season. Mashpee beat No. 46 Academy of Notre Dame 58-25 in the prelims.
